I know that when someone is looking to start a handyman business, deciding how to structure your business is very important, however it can be a little overwhelming.
I am not an attorney and I am not giving you legal advise, (you should consult with someone knowledgeable before deciding anything) here are some questions you can ask yourself to help you decide which entity is best for your situation:
Will you be doing this business part time or full time? If you will be starting part time then moving to full time, then you may want to structure as if you are full time from the beginning.
Will your handyman business be your main source of income?
Will you want your handyman business to fund your retirement plan?
Will you be leaving the business to a family member, or sell it when you want out?
Are there any other financial benefits you want from your handyman business?
These are not the only questions you need to think about, however they will get you started so that when you go to an attorney and CPA you have a good idea of what you want from your business.
